Musa sikkimensis Red Tiger

Manipur Banana.  Seed grown plants rather than the commonly available tissue culture plants.  One of the best choices for growing outdoors in the UK, doing well in cool summers.  Leaves are dark green with variable red markings and pale purple undersides when young.  Leaves have better wind resilience than Basjoo.  Reliably hardy in most parts of the UK when it reaches a larger size. 

This selection of sikkimensis is likely to have more spectacular red markings on the younger leaves - there is more variability from seed, so always the chance of something a bit special!
